Signs of Spring: Tuesday's Treasures

Surely it can't be much longer, not when you go out in the melting snow and find daffodil shoots seeking out sun and warmth, as I found on Sunday afternoon. Definitely a welcome sight!

After our last round of snow and ice on Friday and Saturday, we were without power for just shy of 48 hours, the storm wreaking havoc on our county and the ice covering the pines and hardwoods all throughout our area and especially on the tops of the mountains. All over these country roads you can find evidence of the pine trees really taking a hit; many of them fell across the road and will now become wood for campfires for the upcoming hiking and camping season. Here are a couple photos from our brief excursion on Sunday, before we went out to collect more firewood:

But... what I really wanted to show you today are these wonderful pieces from Etsy shops, all of which give us hope that spring will surely arrive, and it won't be too soon for me!

Tuesday's Treasures: For the Love of Dogs

We have been dealing with our sweet hound dog Bruschi and his seizures for about 15 months now. On Friday we had a very bad morning with six seizures between 5:15 and 7:30 am. These, of course, wore him out, but us as well. He wasn't able to get up on his feet for another three hours, and even then he was quite wobbly and had lost the ability to see, or at least the ability to process what he was seeing. He spent Friday afternoon through yesterday evening at the vet where she could monitor him while increasing his meds. He had a relaxed evening last night here at home, though it seems he is having to reacquaint himself with his surroundings and the routine. This morning he is resting comfortably on his dog bed, not far from the woodstove.

Since my focus of late has been on our sweet dog and the love and trust found in the bond between human and dog, this week's Tuesday's Treasures focuses on canines. As usual, you can click on the link to go directly to these Etsy shops. Hope you enjoy!

Tuesday's Treasures... Five Favorites

Happy Birthday to my Project Embrace friend, Ginny Huber! Since it's her birthday, I've decided to feature her, along with some other great artists, here in my weekly Tuesday's Treasures. I found these gorgeous spring-like greens and reds, all with a round theme, and they seemed to fit my mood today... as I think of birthday balloons and yearn for the warmer and softer days ahead. As always, simply follow the link to see details about the work featured and learn more about the artist.

A lovely dessert plate, perfect for birthday cake, with dragonfly, one of dbabcock's favorite images...

A fun and lively print... I simply LOVE this piece with the bird and the heart in the spokes... by strawberryluna...

A marvelous embroidered piece of art featuring one of my favorite artists, Paul Klee, by VintageChicnSlick...

And of course, this lovely felted brooch entitled It's Always Summer Somewhere (what a wonderful thought!) by ginnyhuber...

And finally, fabulous oxidized copper earrings by dawily, who is having an excellent sale in his shop, but you gotta act quickly...

Until next week... remember to shop Etsy, support artists endeavoring to create very special items, and buy handmade.
