Treasuries and Gift-Giving

Believe it or not, we've found ourselves heading into the season of gift-giving. Yes, it's here already! Sellers on Etsy are gearing up and hoping for good holiday sales, and treasuries are popping up with wonderful gift ideas. Today's post showcases treasuries in which I've been featured, but I'll begin with one I curated with the idea of Christmas wishes in mind. Is it too early for Christmas Dreams showcases things I'd love to get in my stocking or under the tree!

Be sure to follow the links to see the treasuries and featured items up close.

Innovation Design's treasury is titled Favorites, and I'm thrilled she included me!

She has featured my October Fire painting, a 16 x 20 original oil created from a photo I'd taken in 2009 of our autumn trees.

Diramar of Innovation Design creates beautiful crocheted scarves, necklaces, arm warmers and more. Here's one of my favorites, Cotton Candy, a perfect gift!

Bright, hot, and vibrant, this Red treasury by ColettesBoutique features one of my new mini paintings.

My Cardinal painting is a little 5 x 5 acrylic on canvas.

ColettesBoutique has beautiful jewelry for sale, and here are some truly fabulous earrings, but be sure to visit her store for more beauties!

GreenPost's Ornament treasury is filled with wonderful holiday ideas, as you can guess from the title. Kendra has featured another of my new mini paintings.

My Itty Bitty Poppies painting is another 5 x 5, an oil on canvas.

Kendra at GreenPost makes wonderful eco-friendly paper goods filled with flower seeds that can be planted, so her products serve two purposes! Here are her Cardinal tags, but wouldn't they also look wonderful on a Christmas tree?

GinnyHuber's Mountain Morning is a delightful collection of autumnal colors! I just love it!

Ginny has featured my mini Mountain Morning painting, a 5 x 5 acrylic on canvas.

Ginny makes wonderful felted wool products, brooches, envelopes (one of which is my business card holder), scarves and more. Here's one of my favorites, her Changing Leaves Scarf... so perfect for this cooler weather that is moving in.

And finally, a Laid Back treasury by DreamVintage which features relaxing and peaceful finds in shades of gray. She has included one of my bird paintings.

Winter Song is a 12 x 12 oil on canvas which showcases a tufted titmouse in the heart of winter.

Didem of DreamyVintage creates lovely jewelry that is, yes, vintage and vintage-inspired. Here's one of my favorites necklaces in her shop, made of porcelain and lace... so pretty!

With holidays fast approaching, I hope you'll remember to buy handmade, perhaps from some of the featured artists here, and support artists, whether locally or online at Etsy or other web venues. Until the next post, enjoy your days, be thankful for your friends and families, and share a smile with a stranger!

Treasury Challenge

Yesterday I got an email from RoughMagicCreations who informed me that my High Hope Hollow painting was part of her newest treasury... and it went on to talk about this new challenge. PipingHotPapers has issued a treasury challenge on Etsy... and I gave it a try this afternoon as a way to relax after spending some time in the painting studio (two canvases now have fresh paint).

Here's the way it works:
You pick a word, any word, and do a search on Etsy using that word. You choose your first item from the list of works that come up; then you choose one of the tags on that first item and do a search with it, picking your second item from that list... and so on until you have all 16 spaces filled. When you post your treasury, you tell what your first word was and what your last word was.

I started with the search word EAGLE.. and other tags included waterfall, elegant, CASTteam, circle, sunset, crane... and lots more I can't remember now, but the last search word was ROMANCE.

Here's my treasury and the link to it...

While I miss the old way of doing treasuries and am not terribly fond of Treasury East, I did enjoy this fun challenge, and I hope you'll enjoy the items I've included!

Happy weekend, everyone!

Ah, the Joy of Curating!

Creating treasuries on Etsy is a very popular thing, and I must admit that I truly enjoy it. Finding a fabulous item that inspires you, or just using a color scheme or theme and then collecting other items to coordinate or help create a special feeling... well, it's just plain fun, and it's really its own art form. And it's a great way to showcase your favorite Etsy artists, teammates, friends, or sellers.

Here is the treasury that I posted last night. It features some of my favorite artists, friends, and teammates for Project Embrace.

And here are other treasuries in which I am currently featured.
Sunrise Watchers by Waterrose

Etsy for Autism by SandysCapeCodOrig

Ice Crystals by sisterstreasure

Once Upon a Time by SweetHeartStudio

Five Hundred Hearts!

I have reached a milestone, at least for me, on Etsy! Yesterday I reached 500 hearts in my shop... yippee! Thanks to all those who have marked KneeDeepOriginals as a favorite and to those who have featured me in treasuries. Currently, I am in 8 treasuries, and I'm feeling pretty good about that! Now... how to reach 500 sales? There's the rub!

In the meantime, here's a glance at some new items I have posted and will be posting in the Etsy shop this week.

First Sign of Spring earrings... can you tell where my heart is?

Blue Daydream... earrings featuring lampwork glass beads by Etsian lauralou64...

Flowers of Spring... more lampwork glass beads by lauralou64...

Golden Sunset... simple necklace and earring set with lampwork glass beads by guess who?

At the Scene earrings with very hip black millefiori discs...

Thanks again, everyone, for your support! Here's to a Happy Etsy New Year!

Artists Supporting Cancer Research

Happy Friday everybody! I wanted to let you know about a wonderful group of artists who have gathered as a team on Etsy to support the American Cancer Society in its research to find a cure for cancer. So many of our lives have been affected by cancer, one way or another, through our own diagnosis, or that of a family member or friend, a neighbor, or even a stranger who has somehow touched us. Etsy Project Embrace, also known as TeamEPE, initially grouped together earlier this year as a way to love and show support of Laura Slocum who was diagnosed with cancer. From its small beginnings, the team has grown, and it is a wonderful mix of artists and sellers who are simply amazing in their support of Laura and each other, as well as ACS and other cancer victims. Many of us donate a portion of our sales on Etsy to the ACS; some even have shops where entire sales are donated to charity! There is a forum and discussion group where we have gotten to know and care for each other and also learn about others we know who are struggling with this dreadful disease. It is our way to share our lives and our hopes and our prayers with one another.

And this week, another Etsy artist who specializes in featuring other artists in her treasuries on Etsy, has featured Etsy Project Embrace... exposing 12 faces (a very small portion of our team!) to those who look through the treasuries as a way to find new items and even buy!! Thanks to VickiDiane for featuring us. She has a wonderful and sexy shop of her own, selling fabulous jewelry, so follow this link and check her out.

And follow this link to see the treasury and a few of TeamEPE's members up close and exposed!

And if you're looking for some great HANDMADE items for the holidays, check out what the Project Embrace team has for sale, following this link. Shopping handmade gets even better when you know that you will also be supporting cancer research when you buy from EPE shops!

Treasury Monday

If you're not familiar with Etsy, you may not understand the concept of treasuries. There are many of us who are addicted to creating them. They are curated collections of the work of other Etsy artists, and they showcase fabulous talent and items! Treasuries typically are online for only two or three days, and I am thrilled to have jewelry and paintings currently included in a few. Just follow the links for a view of my work and that of other artists; if the link is broken, it means the treasury is no longer on line, so check soon!
