I found myself wondering the other day about people who lack empathy - this was in the context of the biographer of Ayn Rand saying that she thought Ayn lacked empathy, yet on the other hand was entralled by her erotic imagination. And there is no question that Ayn has enriched lives through her writing and that she wanted the world to be a better place. Somehow all these pieces fit together.Norman Hillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10724730033488514354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185293250790027972.post-60697776646962394222009-10-19T14:32:31.603-04:002009-10-19T14:32:31.603-04:00Oh Rebecca! I sometimes have to turn off the world and my husband tries to tell me "have you ever met anyone like that???" And I say, "no." I guess he is trying to tell me there are so many more wonderful people than bad!!! And we have to spread goodness whereever we are...and help people whereever we are...and be kind right here, right now. Sooooo your birthday sounds like it was very thought-provoking and maybe a little somber. I was so terrified when Noah was hiking the trail yet he met the most kind and amazing people!!! One woman sent me a video of Noah doing magic (cards) for her kids! She is dear to my heart!! So I guess we have to find our balance and do what we can and it certainly sounds like you are doing that!!! Peace and love to your family!
xoxo
CaitCait Throophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00424249114747773949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185293250790027972.post-38146559376859521262009-10-19T13:10:25.831-04:002009-10-19T13:10:25.831-04:00I was so touched reading this blog. You, Rebecca, ...I was so touched reading this blog. You, Rebecca, are a "light in the darkness". Thank you for trying and succeeding in so many ways. I am an NPR addict, but I missed that episode and glad I did. It is often overwhelming in this fast-paced cruel world to stop and think about our human condition. Folks like us, with ways and means, have to keep helping and hoping for better days for everyone.ArtAfterDarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15276080868488776596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185293250790027972.post-54203848928943178202009-10-19T11:45:32.742-04:002009-10-19T11:45:32.742-04:00good lord... how awful!good lord... how awful!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
